The Trucker's Truck Parts Store |
Power and Transmission is another one of those Hold-outs I spoke of in one of my page intros. Dan and the Boys just can't seem to get it through their heads that times have changed: parts people are not suppose to know anything except how to look it up in the database and hope it's the right piece.
The whole crew has got it bad, always doing an old time thing like recognizing the part when you set it on the counter, telling you what works best for a particular application, or something really ridiculous like actually being happy you walked through the door.
When I was customizing my '65 FJ-45 LV Land Cruiser, Casey and the others rocked, between the extensive wiring inventory (heat-shrink wire wrap to 2 inches dia. and up to 4 foot length; every switch you could wish for, fuse blocks and panel lights; wire of any gauge, arctic or regular insulation--in lots of colors; etc.) the huge selection of led marker and tail/parking lights; heaters, blowers and suspension parts, but most importantly their knowledge I ended up with the coolest bush rig in Alaska.
Where else can you find a real workbench in a parts store. I've been dealing with Dan, Casey, Steve and Raye for awhile now and I can say without equivocation they have the greatest pool of knowledge in Fairbanks for the problems facing the folks rolling the Big Stuff down the highway, or for that matter, like in my case, a custom builder--
Still a really cool family business, they started in 1972 and have been in the same location since 1978 watching out for truckers, RV'ers and those facing a special project. These people are genuine Alaskan and as good as they get--they're my heroes at times--Lynus O'Brien |
